Surprise

March 28, 2005 § 1 Comment

To say that Sam’s passing has been hard is an understatement.

The house is eerily quiet without her.  Maggie curls up in a ball without her playmate (the boy and I seem to be poor substitutes).  Sam’s collar hangs on the photo of her on my bedside table.  And, most unreal of all, her ashes sit in our living room in a beautiful but tiny mahogany urn.

Our friend John suprised us, though, with a little gift.  When he and his family came to visit us in Orlando, he got a shot of his daughter and Sam playing with each other. It’s simply one of the best presents ever.
