I have bad posture. Oh yes, I am slouchy.
The worst part is that I wasn’t always like this. I actually used to have really great posture (mom sort of beat that into me). But when I moved to the states, I started getting laughed at in school for being so "stiff." Add that to shy and bigfooted, and it wasn’t a pretty sight. So I relented, and became oh-so-much-cooler by leaning on one hip and hanging my shoulders down low. You got it folks, I will die having a twisty-straw shaped spine as a result of PEER PRESSURE.
Did you know women, Asians, and Caucasians are at the highest risk for osteoporosis? Yep, I’M ALL THREE! I’m doing the pilates/yoga thing. There’s not much I can do ergonomically at work except tilt my keyboard up with a box of staples and hike my chair up. I’m eating my leafy greens, taking my calcium supplements, and eating cheese and yogurt, but I still can’t drink milk without getting sick. Oh well.
But I really am trying hard to remedy the situation so that I don’t end up looking like these chicks. So if you see me slouching out and about, do my mom (and me) a favor and yell at me.
