The Teeth

Teeth are a pretty hot topic around here now. I’ve had a relatively good run with my teeth until this summer. During my routine 6 month check up, I was told that I needed a root canal. Yikes. Thankfully, it was not as bad as I had thought and I had zero pain and got to listen to my iPod the whole time so I didn’t freak out. But once that was done, I was told that there wasn’t enough tooth left from the root canal to put a crown on so I would need to get a crown lengthening. Note to self: don’t look up “crown lengthening” on Google, and for heavens sake DO NOT look at the photos. Yay! More oral surgery and money to spend on my stupid jacked up mouth!
In better news, the little one sprouted her first tooth! She has been fussy and whiny for many weeks, drooling, and grabbing at her gums. Then we had the pure joy of night wakings and refusing to go back to sleep. I was started to get desperate, but then I finally saw that little tooth poke out and at least there was a reason for all of this nonsense. Now we get to go through this again for each one of the rest of her teeth – whee! She’s also learned how to use said tooth (ouch) and brushing her one tooth is pretty funny.
Poor little bit. She has no idea that these stupid things are only going to be trouble.
My teeth were awesome until after college then they betrayed me. I’m with you on the root canal – it wasn’t as bad as I was led to believe. Good luck with the baby teeth. Those can be just as painful for the parents as they are for the kids 😉
