Pit nuggets

May 5, 2008 § 10 Comments

I’m not sure if I put too much deodorant on, or if I have especially wrinkly armpits (which would mean “1/4 moisturizer for smoother skin” is FALSE), but sometimes I get these little white chunks of deodorant clumps. You heard me, clumps. Pit nuggets.

I mean, what else would you call them?

Thanks

As is traditional, this year I am thankful for:

the continuing love and support from my amazing family despite the many miles between us

the strong, genuine women in my family who inspire me every day to be my best

the loving, caring men in my family who’ve set the bar incredibly high

my gorgeous niece who can now dance and say “fish”, “ball”, and “bad dog”

my wonderful best friend who I now have the honor of calling my boyfriend

the new adorable little home we’ve made together

friends who continue to amaze me with their endless generosity, sincerity, and kindness

my sweet, loving dog who keeps thinking I’m #1

a great boss and a great job that pays my bills and keeps me happy

enormous amounts of vacation time to visit my family in beautiful Florida

that despite coming home to Orlando seeming quite dull, I never fail to appreciate its sunny skies, gorgeous views, and lakes full of water

being able to count my blessings daily instead of only once a year

coming into my own, knowing my self, and loving all of it

good health and great spirits

and never, ever taking life for granted

Cheers to you and yours, folks.

My boobs: they need new clothes

Women usually complain about having to buy a bathing suit. It’s pretty difficult to find something comfortable and flattering, and we end up as frustrated as a Cathy comic in the dressing room and storm out. I have a similar experience with bra shopping, as well. The last couple of days I’ve noticed something happening to the straps of my standard go-to bras. The elastic is quitting. The straps are beginning to fray. It’s time to go bra shopping. And yes, I’d pretty much rather die.

First of all, there seems to be more than a million different styles, fabrics, clasps, shapes, etc. out there. Guys, you aren’t the only ones overwhelmed when you walk in the back room of Victoria’s Secret. Only instead of being able to just ask a salesperson to pick one out for you, I have to sit there and think to myself, “Is this going to be itchy? uncomfortable? slide around? full coverage vs. demi? padding? nipple coverage? breathability?” and endless other crap things that I have to consider before strapping these things in.

Then I get aggravated at the mere fact that these things really aren’t THAT big and don’t exactly warrant some high-tech device or much of anything at all, yet at the same time I can’t exactly go all ‘women’s lib’ and let them flop around while I reenact some National Geographic photo spread.

And the prices? HOLY CRAP the prices. Why are bras so expensive? Now I am more than willing to invest for quality, especially for something I’d wear daily, but if I’m going to pay $90 for a bra it better be made out of fucking kevlar.

Argh.

Unsettling

Teen sentenced to 60 years for fatal stabbing that took place where I went to high school. The photos of scenes at the school creep me out.

The story of the man robbed and stabbed in Midtown, for whom an Exxon employee refused to help and call 911, is still circulating. I lived right at that corner for over 2 years.

Now another incident in Midtown – a robbery and shooting near Piedmont Park at Monroe and Amsterdam. Again, very close to where I lived.

Unsettling.

updated: And yet another crime, right on the corner where I lived. WTF?

Interesting

My “girls” have been standing at attention all day today, and yet it’s not cold or anything.

Interesting.

I’m heating up my lunch and secretly laughing that the whole office will smell like broccoli and tuna steak in about 2 minutes.

Good

Molly and I made it home in one piece.

Roomie and I watched Rocky.

I’m drinking a great (and cheap!) red wine.

There’s a very, very handsome boy making me dinner right. now.

Yeah, it’s pretty damn good.

This could have saved me some therapist fees

Who would have known deleting numbers out of your cell phone could be so therapeutic?

Where Am I?
